Cruising the 2010 Camaro

Move over Tracy Chapman, it's WeaselMomma who gets the fast car.

General Motors was kind enough to loan me the 2010 Camaro RS for a long weekend.   I was in no way compensated for this post or video.

I was kind enough to document the experience for you.  Or the parts of it that I would admit to in court, anyway.  Watch the video and you will also get the first ever glimpse of Mr. Weasel on World of Weasels.

Melisa and I actually broadcast Suburban Wow last Friday morning from the front seat of the Camaro.  Why?  Because we could and it was fun.  Going back to the kitchen studio will never be the same.  We had a great show that was a hoot.  Especially when we talked to/interviewed the OnStar operator during the live show.  She was a great sport and had Melisa and I laughing hysterically.  You totally want to click the link and watch the show.

This car was awesome and I almost teared up when I had to give her back this past Monday.  Everybody loved this car. Even my garbage man, who has never uttered a syllable to me in the past 6 years, stopped to chat it up and take a peek.  When I realized that I had forgotten to place the necessary stickers on my garbage cans prior to pick up, he told me, "Ah, don't worry about it" and took my garbage anyway.  That is a first.  That's the power of the Camaro.

Sure, It's not quite the same as free drinks, but I'll take it.

I really had a great time playing with the Camaro and logging as many miles as I could fit in.  I've never driven a car that was this much fun.  The handling, performance and comfort were amazing.  She had more horsepower than you could ever legally use 304hp and a V6.  Simply fantastic.  Driving her was just a plain old good time.

Once I get a few of the Weasels out of the house and off to trade school college, guess what I'm going to trade in the minivan for?

If Mr. Weasel ever wants to drive one again, he'll have to get his own.

Tuesday Tidbits

Ah, another holiday weekend is behind us.  We were pretty low key around here, just sticking close to Weaselville and hanging out with the neighbors.  However, life in Weaselville is never dull or scripted, thus I offer you these odd tidbits that represent a snapshot of our weekend.

  • Friday was a special family day.  We took the Weasels out for lunch and then to Build A Bear Workshop.  Boy Weasel named his bear Rusty Shackleford (bonus points to any of you who get the reference) and Eldest Weasel named hers PeaceyP.  The younger and better grounded children went a little more mainstream with Mindy, Bubbly and Mr. Fudgy.

  • I wrote a July 4th post on, well, July 4th Yes, I am a trailblazing original.  I thought it was quite good I really like the author, but it didn't garner that much attention being posted on a Sunday of a holiday weekend and all.  It did however gain the attention of whatever government agency lurks the Internet for possible threats US Department of Creepy Big Brother Internet Stalking, who not only visited that post, but liked it so much they decided to visit some links in my blogroll of recommended reading too!

  • Maybe I have it all wrong and that it's just that the FBI has ESP.  Maybe someone working there had a premonition that within 24 hours there would be mass destruction and carnage in Weaselville with The great Watermelon Massacre of '10 and were that they were just trying to get a jump start on the investigation.  However, in order to save taxpayer dollars, Mr. Weasel and I conducted the investigation and ruled it a tragic accident.  We also took care of the clean up effort ourselves because our home could have been devoured by maggots by the time the federal government did anything about clean up efforts

  • My sister called and wants us to join her family for a week of camping in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  There are a few problems with this for me.
  1. I hate camping.
  2. My idea of 'roughing it' is drinking well liquor.
  3. I don't want to spend $200+ on a tent/air mattress/gear.
  4. I don't want to drive 8 hours north to damn near Canada a place where they are still having overnight frost warnings.  No offense to my Canadian friends, I just don't dig your weather.
Yeah, I really don't see that trip happening.

  • I have never received hate mail during my 2 yrs of blogging.  I've never been sent a message that someone wants to have my babies, like someone I know has.  I've never even gotten any particularly nasty comments nor have I been told what a bad mother I am.  Hmmmm, maybe I'm not doing this blogging thing right.

Oh, BTW, This Friday is the next episode of Suburban Wow!  Info and the link will be up on the shows info blog pageDawn Meehan, author of Because I said So will be joining Melisa and I.  So if you you like to laugh and have fun, forget about Bravo and come watch the real housewives of the suburbs in action on Suburban Wow.

Girls Just Wanna Give Blood

Friday morning on Suburban Wow, Melisa and I had special guest, Stephanie Elliot of ManicMommy.com joined us to promote her 3rd Annual virtual blood drive. Bloggers and blog readers are encouraged to to join in this online giveaway for a good cause by donating a pint of blood through your local collection facility (Red Cross, Heartland or anywhere). It's fast, easy, virtually painless and Melisa and I even made it fun.

If you couldn't tell or if you are new to World of Weasels, Melisa and I tend to have fun wherever we go and donating blood was no different. Upon entering Stephanie was all ready to take the pics while Melisa and I started the minuscule amount of paperwork to ensure that the people who would be receiving our donations wouldn't be endangered in any way, like say being infused with hepatitis, although having Coors Light infused platelets may be something they would enjoy.

We bantered and laughed all through the questionnaire and it was obvious to anyone in the facility that we were very familiar, fond and comfortable with each other. So much so that we were mistaken for a couple. Probably because they notice the way that Melisa looks upon me so lovingly. This was a first for me, being confused for a lesbian and did not give me any extra confidence in my new haircut, that I had just received the day before. C'est la vie, it gave us a really good laugh.

After our pin prick iron tests that were passed with flying colors, mine being a really strong 15 and Stephanie announcing that was a "Man Iron number" (does anyone else happen to notice a trend here?) it was donation time! Back in the comfy chairs Melisa and I were quickly prepped and ready to save lives like superheroes.

To add to the fun of the morning, I suggested that we race to see who could donate the fastest. Melisa agreed, mostly for the sake of pacifying me, but soon her natural competitive nature of "go big or go home" came shining through. There was trash talk as we tried to monitor the progress of ourselves and each other. We were in hysterics. Never has doing a good deed been so much fun. The attendants were laughing at us and having fun as well as other donors watching the insanity ensue around them.

I'm pretty sure they double tested our blood for substance abuse.

In the end, both Melisa and I donated in some pretty fast time. 4:59 for Melisa, and 4:53 for me. To top it all off we treated to drinks and snacks when we were finished. All the sugar you could possibly want was yours for the eating, while we sat with Stephanie and had a little girl time.

Five minutes of my life was all it took to offer life to 3 other people. One poke, no bruise and a chance to win some fabulous prizes.

I challenge you, my dear cherished readers to join in the fun and save a few lives in the process. I will give shoutouts and link love to all those who donate and send their pics to ManicMommy.com on Suburban Wow
Just have your picture taken while donating and email the photo to ManicMommy.com., but I will buy you a beer if you manage to beat (and document) my time of 4:53 when I see you in person.

Not only have you saved 3 lives, yes -each pint can save 3 lives, but you will be automatically entered to win fantastic giveaways donated by sponsors such as Airline tickets, gift cards and gift baskets. The photos are posted on Sundays by Stephanie, complete with link love. It's A win, all the way around.

Daadddyyy....

*Special Reminder* This morning at 10 edt/ 9 cdt/ 7 pacific, is the next episode of Suburban Wow. Tune in and have some Friday morning fun with Melisa (with 1 S) and I. Click here to watch.

Now onto our regularly scheduled FatherHood Friday, brought to you by the great people of Dad-Blogs!

I've known from almost day 1 that Eldest Weasel has her Dad right where she wants him. When she was 2, she wielded her powers during the lipstick incident.

Over the years she has honed her skill set to equal that of a Jedi Master when it comes to dealing with anything Dad. A soft gentle tone of voice, a lulling lilt with her use of the word Daddy and an innocent smile with a bat of the eyes all combine to systematically execute her attack on the heart strings of her father.

Eldest has become so successful over the years, that when she has completed a set goal, a look of 'it's as easy as taking candy from a baby' and a sly smile cross her face.

Just the other night she used her powers via the phone to get Mr. Weasel do her bidding on his way home from work. Flawless was her execution. Mr. Weasel agreed to make an extra stop on her behalf and she hung up the phone enormously pleased with herself.

I laughed and said "I know what you are doing when you say 'Daddy' like that". Eldest laughed and said "yeah, I know what works", with a look of 'he's putty in my hands' crossing her face.

"Dad knows what you are doing too". I duly informed her.
"Damn!" was her only response. Fatherhood Friday at Dad Blogs
