I Dun Lost My Dogone Mind

Now that all the Weasels are in school full time and my days are peaceful, yet still busy with the management and care taking of my family, I was wondering what I could do to replicate the levels of pain and insanity that I have been accustomed to for so many years.

I could finally use that gym membership that I am paying for go to the gym and punish myself by being a wannabe milfy gym bunny cougar in training type, but that would only cause me pain and headaches for an hour at a time 3x a week.

I could focus on bettering my writing skills and making this blog better and more entertaining for you all, while brushing up on my social networking skills, but that would only cause my jeans to scream for mercy even louder than they already do because we all have learned that blogging makes you fat.

A regular day job would not bring me the flexibility I would like like to do things like Suburban WoW school field trips and sporting events. Let alone laundry and dinner preparations.

Yet, I felt a need to somehow find a way to swear more often make my life harder and more challenging. Something that would make my days painful without taking me away from my home life duties. Something that will have me cleaning up poop on the kitchen floor.

Then I got an idea. A stupid idea. A wonderful, stupid, lost my dogone mind idea.

Me: Honey, We should get a puppy! (while pinning Mr. Weasel down and having his arms secured so he couldn't smack any sense into me)

Mr.: No

Me: I found these great puppies on sale for 2/3 off. Mastiff puppies. With papers. I've always wanted a mastiff! I love Big dogs and these are gentle giants. They look really scary as adults too. They're great with kids and very smart. I always wanted one and would never be able to afford one, but they are cheap because of the economy and I really want one.

Mr.: you're nuts.

Me: But I want one. Come look at them online! I want one! The kids have always begged to get another dog and this is my dream breed. This could be my dream dog. This dog can scare boys away from coming near the house (and away from your daughters). Please (full puppy dog eye treatment used)?

Mr.: Whatever. You can have the dog. You're crazy. You know this. I'm not picking up poop.

Me: yeah, I know I'm nuts, but I'll never have a crack at this type of dog again. The Weasels will be on poop pick up duty and the puppies are only 4 hours away! (actually it turned out to be 5, c'est la vie)

Mr.: WHAT! Nevermind. Whatever. Go get your dog. Having a puppy will be less painful than hearing for the next 20 years about how you never got a mastiff.

So I went and here she is. The newest member of the Weasel Family, She who has not been named:

Yes. I have lost my mind. Yes, I am now housebreaking a puppy. Yes, I love her and couldn't be happier.

What a cute addition to your family. Sigh...were there any more on sale? LOL

Somehow I feel the same conversation taking place with the same result when my wife's cat finally 'crosses over'. Mastiffs are cool dogs though.

She is so cute that I want to squeeze her head off. (Haven't you seen something so adorable that it gives you violent tendencies??)

I can't wait to meet her! By the way, when I do meet her on Friday, don't be insulted when I retreat to my happy place with her and completely ignore you. It'll pass.

Very cool! One of my cousins has a Mastiff and he's huge. You really have your hands full now!

AutoSysGene said...

If she was any cuter I'd have to eat her with a spoon. That said, mastiff's are HUGE...my neighbor has one and that dog scares the bejeebers out of me...

Which one of the Weasel's plans to ride her first? :)

@ Cheffie ~ I think she will make a great addition.

@ Kat ~ actually she has 5 sibs on the selling block.

@ PJ ~ I want to know what side of that conversation you will be on!
I love Mastiffs for there size, temperament and intimidating looking qualities. Gentle Giants Rock.

@ Melisa ~ You can give her all the love you want. She loves the love.

@ Dad Unmasked ~ That's one of the many reasons I love the breed. I love big, cuddly, yet intimidating breeds. She's estimated to grow to about 140.

Awwwwwwe! She's adorable! You are wonderfully nuts! I'm sure you and the kids will be able to handle anything that loveable dog hands out!
Mr. Weasel's responses were funny, typical, but funny.

You ARE out of your mind. and really, it doesn't look exactly like a weasel, now does it? Why didn't you get a weasel? Now that would be ironic.

Is she the same thing as what I think my aunt calls "bull mastiffs"? I think my aunt has 4 of them right now, or did when I was there over thanksgiving, they show them and bred one of them (the puppies weren't the best, the other owner of the dog bred her back to her father as I recall). They scared the crap out of Niecey the first time we went when she was 3 but they are so gentle and such that she got used to them and is definitely a fan (except for the huge male "puppy"). I find them acceptable, I like their temperament and the fact that they don't jump on me and slobber all over me and all the nasty things many dogs do. Congrats on DogWeasel =)

@ Melissa ~ She will be huge, but they are gentle giants. I think Smallest Weasel has dibs on horseback riding.

@ Surprised ~ Mr. Weasel is in love with her too, he just likes to play bad cop.

@ K'Man ~ Yeah, I'm nuts. They are a great breed and this house is already infested with Weasels and pet rodents.

@ Micro ~ This is the English Mastiff, not the Bull. If I understand right these guys have an even better temperament and they do become sizable.

Yep. You've definitely lost it. (I hate dogs.)

I like how Mr Weasel thinks he won't be picking up poop. That's funny. He knows he will. I feel sorry for him. Please tell him I said so.

Too cute! Will she make a guest appearance on Suburban WoW? I think you should name her after your favorite brand of beer.

Isn't a bull mastiff mixed with an english bulldog?

She is adorable. You are insane to give up your calm days to puppyhood, but oh, one look at that face and it's obviously worth it.

She's adorable!! Also, misery loves company, so I'm glad to know you. Daisy is six months old and 65 pounds, yet still thinks she's tiny. I can barely handle her. You're going to be able to ride your dog soon!

Awww! At least the kids won't be able to say they missed a pile - 'cuz they'll be dinosaur sized! Enjoy your puppy kisses!

@ Sarah ~ There's no doubt that I am off the reservation. The only debate is how long ago it happened.

@ Tom ~ You made spew out of my nose. Mr. Weasel has turned crazy for her. The Weasels are in charge of the poop, but I am sure he will get his fair share of it too.

@ BusyDad-E ~ I bet she will be making a cameo on Suburban Wow. I brought up the 'beer that must not be named' name and was shot down.

@ Donna ~ Yeah, I am definitely a few fries short of a happy meal. She a cutie though. She is an English Mastiff, not sure about the bloodlines of a bull mastiff.

@ Momo ~ I should be able to rent her out as a pony for kids parties!

I don't know why I didn't think of this before! Every kid needs a dog. You are crazy, but your kids will benefit. You will love the effect a dog has on your kids' emotions. It's awesome.

Speaking as the servant to 2 dogs, both of whom are pacing around me by way of persuading me to take them for a walk, I have only one thing to say:

Sucker! =)

Very cute! How about Maisy the Mastif? Or Poopy on the kitchen floor Mastif? Or why bother going outside when Weaselmomma will clean up after me Mastif?

WeaselMomma said...

@ Seashore ~ You always find the funniest most positive spin to put on things.

Mrs4444 ~ I think we will all wind up benefiting. She will be a great dog, but it will take much work to get her there.

@ Teacher Tom ~ That term should be tattooed on my forehead.

Puppy?? Bull Mastiff?? It wont be long and your kids can ride the dog to school while you work on being a wannabe milfy gym bunny cougar in training!!

And, if nothing else, you can strap a plow and furrow behind the dog, and you could cultivate your back yard!!!

Seriously though... Good luck!

Barb.........you just couldn't leave the peace and quiet alone......could you?? You are truly a gludden for punishment!! The nice thing about puppies, is you can put them in a crate (in the basement) and then go to bed upstairs and sleep like a baby (gotta get permission from eldest though). It worked for me. I am anxious to hear her name........Talk soon you nutjob!!

Oh wow. You are NUTS. N.U.T.S. Then again, this is coming from someone who swore off dogs a long time ago. How do you feel about drool btw? That's one thing that really freaks me out about big dogs. But I promise to be nice if I see him. I DO really like OTHER people's dogs :)

She is darling. We have English Bulldogs and almost got a Bull Mastiff once. They are a mix, 60% Mastiff & 40% Bulldog. I can tell you that once a lap dog always a lap dog so beef up the weasels so they can hold 140 lbs. on their laps!

If you haven't named her yet, she looks like a Maude to me. Thanks for including the pictures in your post.

Mastiffs are wonderful! Please post pics frequently! (Not of you or your family or anything...just the puppy. Maybe give him his own blog) ;-)
